The Desert Empire Filmmaker Foundation (DEFF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and elevating filmmakers and creative professionals in the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley.
We exist to address a long-standing gap in access to resources, training, and industry pathways for creators working outside traditional entertainment hubs. DEFF works at the intersection of education, workforce development, and community-building, strengthening the regional film ecosystem from the ground up.
Through educational programming, filmmaker spotlights, community events, festival partnerships, and industry conversations, DEFF creates opportunities for creatives to connect, learn, and advance sustainable careers. Our work centers local voices, fosters collaboration, and champions stories rooted in the communities we serve.
The Desert Empire Filmmaker Foundation exists to support, educate, and elevate filmmakers and creative professionals in the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley by expanding access to resources, workforce development, and community-driven opportunities within the regional film ecosystem.
DEFF operates as a fiscally sponsored project of Arts Connection, The Arts Council of San Bernardino County, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. With this partnership, DEFF is able to seek grants and tax-deductible contributions in support of its mission.
Rooted in community and built in collaboration, DEFF is committed to ensuring that filmmakers in our region are not overlooked, but empowered, connected, and equipped to shape the future of film.
